Katherine Petsos is the recipient of the 2017 Alton Tower Philanthropy Award. This award, established by the Florida Pharmacy Foundation Board of Trustees, honors Alton Tower for a lifetime commitment of service to the pharmacy profession. Katherine Petsos, BSPharm, C.Ph., FAPhA, is a 1979 graduate of the University of Florida College of Pharmacy.
She works for Walgreens in Cocoa Beach and resides in Cape Canaveral, FL. Kathy is a past President of the Florida Pharmacy Association and Brevard County Pharmacy Association. She is also a current member of the Florida Pharmacy Association, the Brevard County Pharmacy Association, the American Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
Other awards she has received from the Florida Pharmacy Association are the Bowl of Hygeia Award, the R.Q. Richards Award, the James H. Beale Award and the Jean Lamberti Mentorship Award. For over 13 years Katherine has served on the Space Coast American Cancer Society Volunteer Board, and has served as a team captain for Relay for Life, and on the committee. She also participates in the galas for the American Cancer Society and is attributed to fundraising over $200,000.
Kathy serves on the Philanthropy Committee of the University of Florida College of Pharmacy Dean’s Leadership Council, and the Space Coast Gator Club Board. She is a 20-year reading volunteer for Rolling Readers and is on the American Pharmacists Association House of Delegates House Rules Review Committee.
The Alton Tower Philanthropy Award is given once a year at the Florida Pharmacy Association Annual Meeting where the recipient is recognized with an award and $500 to be presented to the winner’s charity/organization of choice.
