James B. and Patsey J. Powers Scholarship

Established in 1992, this scholarship honors the significant contributions and achievements of James B. Powers, as Executive Vice President of the Florida Pharmacy Association for more than twenty years. In 2003, the Board of Trustees voted to include Patsey, Jims’s wife, for her involvement in Florida Pharmacy Association affairs for more than thirty years. The award recognizes a pharmacy student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, made contributions through volunteer work and participated in professional or student organizations. The scholarship award is $1,500.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a current student enrolled in one of the seven affiliated Florida pharmacy schools: Florida A&M University, University of Florida, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Nova Southeastern University, University of South Florida, LECOM, Larkin Health Sciences Institute.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrated excellence in academics, community service, and active involvement in professional or student pharmacy organizations.
  • Must have a current Student Pharmacist Membership in the FPA (Florida Pharmacy Association).

Award Details

  • One-time scholarship award of $1,500.
  • Funds may be used toward tuition, books, or other educational expenses.

Selection & Notification

  • Applications are reviewed by the Florida Pharmacy Foundation’s scholarship selection committee.
  • Recipients will be notified via email and announced on the Foundation’s official platforms.
  • Award is presented during a designated Foundation or Association event.

  • Submit a personal statement detailing your academic journey, leadership experiences, and service contributions.

About this Scholarship
